GLITTER IS MY FAVORITE COLOR

If you've followed me for a while, you know how much I LOVE glitter (I mean, I make glitter tumblers ;). But not all glitter is created equal, and I'm going to be answering some of the most commonly asked glitter questions.

Where do I purchase glitter?

If you're just starting out, I always recommend Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Walmart. They're great places to get your glitter stash started without breaking the bank.

If you're ready to make a larger investment or looking for a wider range of colors, www.bulkglitters.com is a great online resource. They have a large variety of colors and styles.

Does the kind of glitter I purchase matter?

Believe it or not, yes. It does matter. There are two major types of glitter out there: Craft and poly glitter. They both work fine for glitter tumblers; however, I have found that when I use poly glitter, it sparkles more, I use less, and it takes less epoxy to make my tumbler smooth.

Craft glitter will still get the job done, so don't worry if you're not ready to put more money into your glitter stash just yet. Just be mindful that when using craft glitter, you may need to do more coats of mod podge and glitter. You'll also need more coats of epoxy, or you may have to sand it some.

What size glitter do I purchase?

This is really personal preference. The fine glitter is much easier to work with than the super chunky glitter. I prefer .015 size glitter myself. It's not so big that it is difficult to work with, but because of its slightly bigger size, it really sparkles.
